Can you tell these images are of a woman? Oh course not, because with the beginnings of modern medical imaging, gender no longer had to be captured in medical images. These are the cells of a cervix included in Moses Greeley Parker, M.D.'s 1888 pamphlet "Photo-Micrography: The Best Means of Illustrating and Teaching Pathology."
